EMAIL BLASTS

Everyone has their opinions about marketing. Especially when it comes to Email Promos. You could ask 100 people and possibly get 100 different answers. Some people love it, others hate it. I get maybe 10 a day, from different hair, makeup, stylists, agents, producers, you name it. I'll admit.. most.... I trash. But, the reality is, if I like the image, and the shoot looks strong, I will absolutely, click on it. There lies the strength of marketing. You can send images out all day long, and if they don't stand out, no one will care. Whether its an email promo, a printed postcard, or a special book or poster you've spent a thousand dollars on.... If the images don't speak for themselves, you are most likely going in the trash.

I say all of this, because I used to think email promos were a waste. Until I saw the design my agent inherited from her super talented designer Ophelia Chong. Every week, or every other week my agent Alyssa will send out an email promo of the latest new images of her photographers, that work. Weeks or months may go by that my images don't make the cut. That only means I don't have the images that are worth the money or the time, to send the darn things out.

I think all marketing is helpful, but good marketing, is being smart about your choices. Your images, your design, and layout need to stand out, showcase your strongest work, or you will.. get lost in the crowd.
